Automated Testing using Virtual Instruments and new Bus Technologies

November 2003 Section Meeting

When: Wednesday, November 19, 2003 - 7:00 to 8:30 PM

Speaker: Andrew Watchorn, Field Engineer for National Instruments based in Richmond Virginia. Click Here for the speaker's bio.

Abstract:

The presentation will include a demonstration of the latest instrumentation technologies and software techniques for characterization and test systems. These systems can reduce test times by more than 50% and improve measurement accuracies on DC to RF signals up to 20% compared to traditional measurement techniques.

LabVIEW is National Instrument’s software for the automation of DC, RF and audio/video measurements such as NTSC video stimulus-response, analog demodulation, power supply waveform characterization, and digital audio generation. It simplifies the task of connecting to and communicating with a wide variety of GPIB, serial, Ethernet, PXI, and VXI instruments. LabVIEW includes a graphical development environment for defining signal acquisition, measurement analysis, and data presentation, allowing the user the flexibility of a programming language without the complexity of traditional development tools.

Biographical Information:
