November 2005 Section Meeting

We have two presentations for the November meeting covering entirely different aspects of electronic testing.

Presentation #1: Mass Interconnect applications for Automated Test Equipment

Abstract:

An overview of Virginia Panel Corporation will be given while showing the use of Mass Interconnect applications with Automated Test Equipment. Also the will be discussion of applications using high cycle life connectors and the types of electrical loads they carry.

Biographical Information:

Darryl Ashby is a Sr. Engineer with Virginia Panel Corporation in Waynesboro, Virginia. Previous experience has been with National Optronics, CII /Tyco Electronics, Genicom Corporation, and Phillips Technologies. He has a BS in Engineering from Old Dominion University and is patent holder for a interconnect system. He is also a member of the IEEE standards association, Standards Coordinating Committee 20 for Test and Diagnosis for Electronic Systems.

Virginia Panel Corporation designs, manufactures and markets Interface Connector products for both commercial and military applications. They have a specialization in Mass Interconnect Systems for the Automated Test Equipment (ATE) industry.

Presentation #2: Bluetooth Interoperability Testing

Abstract:

This presentation will cover a real-world view of what's happening with Bluetooth Interoperability Testing from someone who's intimately involved with Bluetooth. Frontline Test Equipment makes tools used by its clients to aid in the Bluetooth Interoperability testing process. Clients include Nokia, Motorola, Qualcomm, Sony, Panasonic, Audi, BMW, and Microsoft.

Biographical Information:

In 1985 Eric Kaplan founded Frontline Test Equipment, Inc., a bleeding edge provider of data communication test equipment. Frontline has shipped over 30,000 protocol analyzers around the world. Eric has been focused on Bluetooth and ZigBee since 2001. He has spoken at a number of conferences about debugging, testing, and verifying wireless technologies.

Frontline products are used around the world by companies such as Motorola, Nokia, Broadcom, Sony, Panasonic, etc. Frontline's FTS4BT Bluetooth protocol analyzer has emerged as the de facto industry standard for debug, test, and verification of Bluetooth products. Frontline's FTS4ZB IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee analyzer has been adopted by NTS Labs as their standard tool for ZigBee certification testing.
